Submitting a project or series proposal

We work hard to make constructing and submitting a project or series proposal as easy and straightforward as possible. Our partnership team are here to answer any questions you might have and give you the necessary support to construct a project plan that aims to turn your most recent research projects into important and regular contributions to your field.

A brief step-by-step guide to submitting a project proposal

  • 1

Write your publishing partnership proposal using our proposal guidelines.

  • 2

Collate your proposal, organisation information and any other relevant materials and get in touch.

  • 3

Our partnership team will assess your proposal and decide whether to pursue the project.

  • 4

If it seems promising our partnership team will work with you to scope the project, with the objective of defining the type and regularity of output, identifying key stakeholders — including potential editorial boards, series editors and commissioning editors — and where applicable will build an initial definition of the series.

  • 5

When this is complete Zed Books will decide whether or not to contract the project.

  • 6

Once an agreement is in place, the series will be positioned and branded and a publications schedule defined.

  • 7

Each individual publication in a series follows the same submission process as all Zed Books publications, unless otherwise contractually agreed.
