African Popular Culture is an exciting new series of books that seeks to provide accessible but in-depth analysis of key contemporary issues on topics related to African popular culture.

We welcome proposals on topics related to all dimensions of African culture (in particular contemporary cultural forms), performance arts, visual arts, music, cinema, the role of the media, the relationship between culture and power, as well as issues within such fields as popular culture in Africa, sociolinguistic topics of cultural interest, and culture and gender. We are particularly interested in research that shows evidence of understanding life on the ground, and that demonstrates local knowledge and linguistic competence.
